Barbados in the Caribbean. The independent island nation of Barbados is located in the southern Caribbean region, and is a part of the Lesser Antilles island chain. Barbados's total land area is about 166 square miles. The island's sports a tropical climate, with customary trade winds coming from the Atlantic Ocean that serves to keep the island temperatures mild and pleasant.

Several smaller regional airlines and charters also use the Barbados Airport. The airport serves as the main air transportation hub for the Eastern Caribbean.
